Sobralia chatoensis A.H. Heller & A.D. Hawkes

Originally published in Phytologia 14(1): 14-15, t. 9. 1966.

Holotype collected in Nicaragua: Boaca: Cerro Chato, epiphytic, alt. 2500 ft. (900 m), Jan 1964, A.H. Heller 9553 (HT: F). No specimen data.

A subsequent collection was made in Nicaragua: Granada: Volcan Mambacho, 1100 - 1200 m, [11.50N 85.55W], 19 March 1977, by Thomas B. Croat 39094 (MO). Specimen data from voucher: "Terrestrial in dense stand; flowers lavender to pale violet-purple; lip tinged with yellow within."
