Native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

A terrestrial species growing to a height of about 1.5 meters. Flowers can be either pink, or white with pink lip. Found in the Coastal, Andean, and Amazonian areas of Ecuador from 500 to 2000+ meters, including the provinces of Azuay, Manabí, Napo, Pastaza, Pichincha, Tungurahua, and Zamora-Chinchipe.
According to "Inventory of the vascular plants of Maquipucuna, Ecuador," it was collected from 1450-2100 meters elevation in the Maquipucuna area.

This species recently received a Certificate of Botanical Recognition from the AOS, provisional at this time as it has not yet been published in the Awards Quarterly.
