The type species was collected in Colombia.
Small, rigid, terrestrial plants, growing to 40cm. Flowers are small and rose-colored, with white lips, and they arise laterally from the leaf axils, rather than apically.
Found in the Andean province of Zamora-Chinchipe, Ecuador, from 2,000-2,500 m elevation (CVPE).
